Hasui Kawase was a Japanese illustrator born in 1883 and deceased in 1957. He belonged to the Shin-Hanga movement - a pictorial rebirth. A very prolific artist, he travelled through the whole of Japan seeking inspiration. This etching represents Hie-jinja, a sanctuary in Tokyo.
