Paul Cezanne painted this mountain Saint Victoire between 1892 and 1895. It is part of a series of more than 80 paintings which explore the same subject. In this version, the painter seeks to create the feeling of distance. His palette made up of very limited colors unifies the different sides of the composition. The mountain so dear to the painter, massive and central, dominates the landscape. The canvas can be admired at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.
