Hand-cut art wooden jigsaw puzzle of circa 1000 pieces - Made in France and environmentally friendly.
Created by Hasui Kawase, this woodblock print depicts Zōjō-ji Temple in Tokyo during a snowfall. An heir to the ukiyo-e tradition, the Japanese artist renewed the genre by paying particular attention to light, atmospheric effects, and the changing seasons.
As in many of his prints, he includes a few discreet figures throughout the composition. They provide a sense of scale and invite viewers to imagine their own walk through this snowy landscape. Behind the pine trees, the temple's vermilion walls draw the eye. A traditional protective color for Japanese sacred buildings, vermilion stands out against the white snow and guides the viewer's gaze to the heart of the composition. Lovers of Japan will enjoy both the challenge of the puzzle and the journey it offers.
