Hand-cut art wooden jigsaw puzzle of circa 900 pieces - Made in France and environmentally friendly.
Vast expanses of blue surround this boat, where young women are enjoying a stroll beneath the cherry blossoms. A leading figure in ukiyo-e, Utagawa Kunisada created numerous bijin-ga prints, depictions of elegant women that were highly popular during the Edo period. The intense blue of the water and sky comes from Prussian blue, a pigment from Europe that was widely used in 19th-century Japanese prints. In this puzzle, the large swaths of color contrast with the refined patterns of the kimonos, creating a composition rich in nuance and detail.
