Hasui Kawase was a Japanese painter and illustrator born in 1883 and deceased in 1957. He belonged to the Shin-Hanga, or pictorial revival, movement. The artist created works of a poetic and serene nature, like this etching which represents Zojoji, a Buddhist temple situated in the Shiba neighbourhood of Tokyo.
