This work depicts the major artistic disciplines through allegorical female figures, typical of Art Nouveau. Each character embodies an art form - poetry, music, dance, painting - in an elegant composition of curved lines.
The puzzle is constructed like an ornamental composition: the arabesques of the design provide a framework for the piece, while the contrasts between richly detailed backgrounds and lighter areas bring the figures to the fore.
